Headphones in, volume up. With the M Performance Exhaust matched up to the 7,000 rpm straight-six symphony and creamy smooth 8-speed ZF transmission, the 440i sings up and down its gears like an acapella ensemble. The engine wails right up to the redline, and once you let off the throttle, the exhaust lets out a few nuclear farts that transform your local street into what sounds like a firing range. It’s loud, almost immaturely loud. Even when you downshift, it will burble. The only downside is that the volume of the burbles are inconsistent - it can be loud, quiet, or even non-existent, and you can’t control it.
