A visit to the local automotive dealership isn’t always a pleasant experience. Sometimes you just want to check out the latest car on display, or ask a few questions regarding availability, pricing, or specs. But most of the time, a visit to the dealer is clouded with awkward stares and the off-putting demeanor of hungry salesmen.
Well, Mercedes-Benz has the answer with their new Mercedes me store, a boutique shop with their latest vehicles on display, as well as some merchandise like hats, keychains, and watches. Mercedes says it’s a great way to extend its brand reach to customers in a more comfortable, welcoming, and accessible manner, and we agree.
They’ve recently opened one up at Markville Mall located in Markham, Ontario, and we had a chance to check it out before it was opened to the public. This location joins the other stores around the world located in Vancouver and Hong Kong, just to name a few.
The Mercedes me store had a few vehicles on hand, mostly their volume sellers, including a bright red C 300 Wagon, a green GLA 250 worthy of the Hulk, and a beautiful blue C 43 Cabriolet, the latter of which won our recent sports convertible comparison. We had a chance to leisurely check out the cars, sit in them, and learn more about them.
The Mercedes me store provides a nice change to scenery to automotive shopping. Anyone can go inside, sit in their display cars, ask questions to the Product Advisors on site, and leave without being eyed by salesmen. It’s a smart way of luring in potential and curious new customers in a relaxing and leisurely retail setting. My only hope is that other automakers start doing the same.
